Few applications take advantage of Altvec. For those, I think "Compile" is the right tool to use (with an optimized "C{XX}FLAGS"). I agree that G3 support is similar do i586, but the diferences between G3 and G4 are much narrow than the x86 world (namely: AltVec). On Mac OS X, few applications won't work on my G3, most of then I have to blame Apple (e.g. iLife and iWork '05, that shipped with my G4), or some that can really take advantage of AltVec (e.g. MPlayer -- there's a G4 version around -- and Handbrake). > > I'd like to help with the LiveCD for PPC as I'll have more free time > > (and a new machine) in a few weeks (2-3 weeks). > > Not so true anymore. I'll have the time, but the machine will have to wait about 2 months (so I can get the Intel Core Duo Mac mini for less than they are selling G4 minis today...). Back to another port going on... -- Rafael -- "Surrealism is feasible compared to reality."
