I just checked the patch (which is 2 years old now -- does it still work?). As far as I can see, in order to apply it one would have to disable the default Linux capabilities (CONFIG_SECURITY_CAPABILITIES), which is what we've been using so far -- it's not possible to have that capabilities configured as module anymore. What about Ingo Molnar's preempt-rt patch?
