The intro paper didn't say much. How does an app gain realtime privileges? Is it a replacement for the realtime thread support in the current kernel? (same API and good old SCHED_FIFO and SCHED_RR?) Then I guess it's still a question of how to let apps gain rt priv... One can run them under set_rlimits but it's a bit cumbersome under a desktop envoronment or when apps are launched by other apps, etc.. Does anyone know if PAM can be used for this instead?
