I didn't notice the ambiguity.  It seemed clear to me that 
periods would occur only at the ends of sentences and would 
always be followed by whitespace (though for my purposes that 
didn't matter).

If you interpreted the rules differently, I don't understand 
how you could have believed it was okay to use -056.

The only thing I found confusing (not ambiguous) about the 
rules is that they defined paragraphs even though paragraphs 
had no effect and no test cases had more than one paragraph.
