I also have seen this issue and it has left us puzzled at the discrepancy between natural search results and API search results. When we do an API 'allintitle' search, we get vastly different values for the 'number of results' returned when compared with doing a search by hand through the Google website. Is the value returned by the API incorrect, or is it the value returned by www.google.com that is incorrect? Can something be done to bring these results in line with one another?
