I guess www.mydomain.com is considered a subdomain of mydomain.com so using the key for mydomain.com seems to be working for both. The advice here seemed to work as well if you want to maintain multiple keys for different environments. http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg56037.html
I thought at one point during my testing leaving the key off threw a feed/key error but I haven't tested it without the key recently.
