Hi JY, I have used both: for a small company aiming at big applications, I would definitely go GAE because it's PaaS: you don't have to deal with the infrastructure which can become quite time consuming when your application gets big if on EC2 (you have to update/patch your images, take care of your scaling, etc.). It's probably not what you want to spend time on at start with limited resource.
