yes you can apply for a pattern, here are some examples
To apply for all html, u define the url pattern
<filter-mapping>
<filter-name>logSpecial</filter-name>
<url-pattern>*.html</url-pattern>
</filter-mapping>
To apply to all resources
<filter-mapping>
<filter-name>logSpecial</filter-name>
<url-pattern>*.*</url-pattern>
