I appreciate the feedback on this, but notice I already disabled web pages and sites, and everything except for mail. I even removed "www" from the enom panel. the fact is, there's something going on behind the scenes on google's side that is the problem. there's some sort of auto-redirect already in place from the naked domain to the "www" prefixed domain. that in itself is fine, but it seems to prevent me from deciding what I personally want "www" to be applied to. According to the app engine docs, it was a recent change not to allow the naked domain for an app engine app. but the "www" was still supposed to work. that is simply not the case right now: I am very curious if anyone else has specifically set the "www" subdomain for an app engine app, or any of the services for that matter.
