>From here, in Vancouver, BC, Canada (on Shaw cable), I have 11 hops, and about 33ms response time to Joyent's servers in Emeryville, California. For AppEngine, I have 12 hops, and about 22ms response time. If I try it from a machine in Germany, I get 169ms vs 18ms ping times. That's pretty good. I wonder if Google is replicating the applications over to Europe? Or maybe their backbone is just really fast? It is still very early days for the Joyent Smart Platform - we just launched it for a 'friends and family' beta last week. We are hoping people will give it a try, and tell us what we can improve.
