We too are getting these on many of our apps (myfrontsteps, steprep,
vendastaweb).

We've even built out a simple, simple app on webapp and are still
seeing DeadlineExceededErrors occasionally.

It's _very_ detrimental to user adoption. I really can't stress this
enough.
