Updating a sdk is easier and faster than updating the brain of a banker. We won't chose when we will have to implement that is something which is mathematically impossible to forecast even though we know that the system is already unstable. It is impossible by definition to know when it will start to behave in a non linear way.
The consequence of not being ready would be tremendous: we had the occasion of tasting locally what would be the social consequences but if the 1929 episode is an indication the political and military consequences could be disastrous. I have started to work on this project since 1994. Although it took me 6 years to start to envision a solution and I haven't been able yet to persuade people of the necessity to find a solution, even after the Great Recession, I am a patient optimist.
