I tend to agree with the previous comment by Stephen. The fact that custom clients (read non standard browsers apps built on: iphone, androids, etc) are forced to close sockets to app engine servers makes it more obvious to apply a strategy pattern over the interfaces considering mostly REST. Unless it is planned to support long lived Keep-Alive connections? :)
