We did this awhile ago, so I'm not sure it would still work, but when we initially piloted our provisioning process, we created all accounts with a unique password that we stored in their LDAP object. Then to compose an email, we did a ClientLogin as the user with their credentials in LDAP and sent them to the Compose URL. At the time, it worked great, but things may have changed. It also requires that you set the user's password for their gmail account to something they don't know, and use SSO to authenticate the user.
