Hi, I have been testing both widgets on the start page, and it seems there is a bug with the Google Docs Gadget. Because once you sign in, all gadgets should be logged independently of the RelayURL.
For example, Email and Google Talk are logged in, when I sign in into any other service (or RelayURL). I will investigate further and report the problem if it is a real bug. Thanks!
