I see the same behavior, with the body of the response with the 400
header saying something about an unexpected EOF encountered by SAX. I
wrote a blog post semi-jokingly wondering if this is Google's way of
forcing its developers to write more fault-tolerant code:

But I do get the error with surprising frequency, like maybe (I'm
guessing) once every 50-100 API calls. It's enough that I'm building in
retry logic. Maybe I'll add some code that counts good/bad requests so
I can get some real stats...
