I'm not a guru<g>, but from what I have learnt, it seems to me that
Google Calendars lends itself nicely to your application. I think you
only need one Gmail account for multiple calendars.

Go to your primary calendar and on the left-hand-side half-way down
click on the + icon next to "My Calendars" and create as many
calendars as you want - one for each candidate. Once you have created
them, they show up as a list underneath "My Calendars" - click on each
icon to the right and select "Calendar Settings" which will popup a
"TABbed frame"  - select the "Share this Calendar" and assign
visibility and whoever (gmail address required here I think) to give
permission to add events.

If you choose to "share these calandars with everyone", then they
become public calendars to anyone with a gmail account, otherwise (I
thinK) they are just visible thru your account or your web site.

The checkboxes on the left act as a filter for each calendar/candidate
and of course, each candidate will show up in a different color.

That should get you going.
