I just found a similar problem where setting the transparency causes
an issue:

This works:

  <gd:transparency value='http://schemas.google.com/g/
2005#event.opaque'></gd:transparency>

This does not:

  <gd:transparency value='http://schemas.google.com/g/
2005#event.transparent'></gd:transparency>

It comes back with a 500 error.

The rest of the message is identical,
