Hi Carlos, Michael,

  once there was a reason for this, and since we have users for it we are
not going to change this any time soon. In fact we will keep this behavior
for the next few years at least. The only way for us to change the behavior
would be a version 2 interface running in parallel to the current interface.
But we do not have any plans for something lie this.
