Could you provide a code example of your situation?   There could be 
several explanations for what you are seeing.  One reason your div might 
appear to not exist is that it doesn't exist at the time you are trying to 
access it, if you are somehow trying to access it before that part of the 
document has been loaded.  Another possibility is that the div gets deleted 
if you replace the innerHTML of a container.
