Your example does work for me too.  I think there is an issue in my
implementation, though no errors are being thrown.  I have the issue even
with the sample "pens/pencils data" from the dev page, so I'm not sure what
else could cause the bubbles to not display.

Any plans to enhance this widget?

I am implementing this on a SharePoint 2010 page.
