Hi, I sent an email about this to [email protected] two weeks ago, but did not get a response yet. So I am approaching you this way.
The MediaCoder project (http://code.google.com/p/mediacoder/) is a closed source, commercial (adware) project that exploits Google Code services for hosting their downloads. MediaCoder started as an open source project on SourceForge a few years ago, but they changed to a closed source license and did not release source code anymore for at least the last two years. They never released any source code on Google Code. The project is listed as being released under the Mozilla Public License (MPL), but that’s incorrect. They used a proprietary license called MediaCoder Public License (also abbreviated MPL, presumably to intentionally misguide people) for quite some time. Recent releases carry a “Broad Intelligence EULA” with them which is quite restrictive and as far from being an open source license as it can get. They have recently been sacked by SourceForge for this and have now turned to Google Code for hosting their downloads. I think that this project is hurting the reputation of Google Code and of open source software in general, so I ask you to not allow them to host their stuff on your site any longer.
