Thanks for the report. This sounds like http://code.google.com/p/support/issues/detail?id=1903 . A partial fix was already applied a while back, and it looks like "http://" falls under the remaining broken cases. I've added a note saying that this hits Chromium especially badly, since URLs and schemes are often mentioned in bugs due to the nature of the project. You can star that issue if you want to follow its progress, otherwise, rest assured that we will get to it :).
