Hello there!
I'm using a Google Code project for my Google Desktop Gadget project.
In the documentation (FAQ) for Gadgets regarding Gadget Submissions
I'm clearly instructed to always use one identical download URL for
the gadget. ("To update your gadget, simply re-upload the new version
to the same URL") This URL must be supplied in the Gadget Submission
form and I believe it's not so simple to change it later.
However if I try to replace a download on my Google Code by first
deleting it, I get the following message:
"Don't delete this download so fast.
When you first made this download available to users, it became part
of the history of your project. Users may want or need older releases
of your software, and they may be frustrated if you take away that
option. It is preferable to keep old releases available and give each
new release a unique name that includes a version number.
Instead of deleting a download, it is better to mark it as deprecated.
Deprecated files are not shown to users in the default list of
downloads."
Even if i do delete the download file on Google Code and and upload a
new file with the same filename, it will reappear on the download list
but the contents will remain the old one. That's a very weird behavior
isn't it and it took some time for me to find out. That makes it
impossible for me to reuse the same filename for downloads.
Any ideas how it should resolve this?
