In order to nail down the problem further I have upgraded SVN to version 1.6.11 both on the primary server (did not change anything with regard to the error message) and on the machine I'm calling svnsync.
I'm now getting a new error message, which I can't decipher: c:\_ngi>svnsync sync https://ngi.googlecode.com/svn Transmitting file data .svnsync: Temporarily unavailable I tried multiple times, the message stays the same.
