I think jewish orthodox people (and I'm NOT speaking for myself) leaving in many places on the eastern coast of America (the continent) are almost banned from participation because almost the entire qualification round is placed in their religious day of the week, in which they cannot use the computer neither participate on a contest.
Maybe by checking the exact times in each country and the rules of the jewish law in detail this turns out not to be true, but I didn't take the time to do so (and I do not know the orthodox jewish law in detail).
