A large amount of those 10000+ used C++, Java, python or C#, the
languages offered in TC codejam. I don't think the other languages
really increased participation that much. I just wish go-hero would
have overall statistics because getting them individually for each
round is not that useful in this situation.

I think data-driven format is annoying. Even more annoying than the
"submit source code manually" format in online judges
