As a competition, codejam is really a waste of time. It is totally exclusive, top 25 advance? That's basically no one. 500 t-shirts? Also a very small proportion and AFAIK t-shirts don't offer gender choice. If we focus on solely the competition aspect, google code jam is a waste of time for thousands of coders. The only point, the only reason for participating in these things would be to learn and improve. The focus on these things as a competition, or worse, as something to rank potential employees is quite toxic in my opinion. Another function round analysis perform is to be a guarantee that the problems had proper solutions.
