Hi,
My comment isn't so much about the rules but about assigning points to
problems. In recent competitions it was common that one could strategically
solve all (or at least many) small inputs and possibly one large thus gathering
sufficient points to advance with ease. This compared to solving completely
fewer problems.
I believe this is undesirable. It puts me in a dilemma: do I want to solve the
tough algorithmic problems (the reason I compete in the first place) or do I
want to maximize my chances of advancing by quickly solving small inputs.
I think the simplest solution is to give much fewer points to the small inputs,
unless there is some real challenge there.

All in all Code Jam ha a great format which keeps me coming back year after
year.
Looking forward to compete next year.
