Success doesn't come easy. But I have one word for you "Practise". Compact
codes are written as a result of

1) Understanding the problem statement thoroughly
2) Having a clarity of idea for solution
3) Mastery of intended language.

The seasoned programmers and toppers will tell you that they don't care if
they end in the finals or not, it is the journey to the top that makes it
interesting. Enjoy your CodeJam experience as long as you can - by
competing in it or practising for it.
