By looking at the code, I can tell that the "contact_entry_or_url" really means "contact object or the photolink URL". However, when a contact object is passed, it calls GetPhotoLink() which in my case returns None, while GetLink(gdata.contacts.PHOTO_LINK_REL) returns an object.
