I tried refreshing the page several times to no avail (Chrome OSX).  The
fact that is will refresh the address block in the event of a manual change
through the UI seems to suggest the programmatic mod isn't flagging the
block as dirty though.

I'll test a different browser though.

This can be a browser cache issue. Have you tried refreshing the web UI? It
might not have caught up with your changes.
