Thanks Stefan, but yes, they've got a name - like I said: everything works fine if I run the gadget from the gadget_manifest file. I'm not using Google Gadget Designer, but IZArc for zipping - hasn't let me down before. In fact, I produced working versions (with different IDs) before this way.
