Hi, Gadget meta data should get updated in about a week or two, if it has been longer then post again and hopefully a Googler can follow up with you. There have been times when things get stuck but it's usually you have to wait for their next cache update cycle.
If I recall correctly the Canvas view in the new API is more catered to advertisers to put their ads, but I don't use them so I can't speak from experience. There are also Gadget Ads that may appeal more to you.
