Additional information:

I seem to have better luck by going directly to the GGE at
http://www.google.com/ig/ifr?url=gge.xml&synd=open&up_nopreview=1&up_preload_url=http://gadget-doc-examples.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/helloworld.xml

In one case, even that didn't work until I played with changing the
up_nopreview=1 parameter (from 1 to 0 and back again).

Other observations:
 - After Opening a file, I often can't delete characters until I have
entered at least one new one.
 - When the editor is invoked directly, as above, it opens with a
vertical bar down the entire left side. It goes away as soon as I
make the first change to the file. This does not happen if I use the
version imbedded in the page at
http://code.google.com/intl/en/apis/gadgets/docs/tools.html#GGE.
Is this bar supposed to signify something?
 - The editor often creates an empty phantom line 2, leaving a large
gap between the first line (The XML header) and the <Module> line.
 - On multiple occasions, the editor has lost the top line, which I
don't detect until I try to run the resulting gadget.
 - On one occasion, the editor lost my entire file, EXCEPT for the top
line (I had a pretty current backup, whew!)
 - The syntax highlighting seems to get completely confused, even
though the syntax is correct.

Again, am I doing something wrong? The GGE seems extremely unstable
to me. Since that's where newbies like me are pointed, shouldn't it
be more robust?

I'll look into the sandbox, but I suspect it is really running mostly
the same code...

Chris
