I'm having the same type of problem updating the gadgets.

It is weird because I haven't changed anything code wise when the
update problem started happening.

Due to this problem, I changed the code in order to force a refresh of
my remote content using:

http://myremoteurl/&nocache=1000

using the gadgets.io.makeRequest

To make sure everything was ok I also removed any caching that I had
on my server.

However the problem persist in Chrome! Firefox and IE seems to be
doing ok.

Anybody knows what could be happening?
