I've been working on a project the past couple of days and have a generic search engine created using Web Services (http:// newtitles.library.vanderbilt.edu/webservices/webservice.php? searchterm=testing). If you change the "testing" to some other term, you'll see that it is working, pulling up records. Using AJAX, I've tried to create a Google gadget that will allow the user to search our catalog and display the results within iGoogle. However, when I run it, I always get "Missing or malformed url parameter". So, my question is this: 1) is it possible to conduct a search within iGoogle & have the results displayed there or do the results HAVE to open in a new window (I've tried several different gadgets that have search boxes and all seem to open in a new window); 2) can I use AJAX in creating a Google gadget? Please advise. Thank you!
