I absolutely agree. It appears on the surface Google's foolish desire to take on Facebook with Google+ and drive everything through +. The real issue is Google wants our home page to be Google+ not iGoogle.
It brings into question the whole cloud argument. As a company we have gone headlong into cloud products. We have been recommending them to clients and developing Gadgets to access our own services. We have been putting a lot of effort in using iGoogle. I see a large number of users using iGoogle and also our clients getting use out of our gadgets. How can we continue to do this when one of the leaders in the field can remove major services like this. We also use iGoogle as part of our paid for service through Google Apps - so it is not even as if we are doing this gratis. What effort should we put into which next product for it to be pulled. As a small company it is a huge effort to develop additions and use all of the APIs to only get 1 year of return is ludicrous. I am furious. So come on Google let's see the stats as to why you are retiring this? Back to Microsoft.
