This is a bit offtopic but if your card is FAT formated and you didn't write new photos on it, there is no reason why testdisk wouldn't be able to show you the deleted files (choose "show deleted files"). If you badly want to recover those photos and cannot recover them using those tools, you might want to make an image of the card (dd if=/dev/sdX of=somefile where sdX is the name of your card device) and put it somewhere online ; I'd be glad to help you recover them.
