I've got the same issue, running on Ubuntu 9.10 (only I can't get Picasa 2.x running, in spite of trying all of the the solutions/ workarounds listed here: http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Labs-Picasa-for-Linux/browse_thread/thread/91d956e2d643cb19?hl=en )
Is there a fix for this yet?
