I believe that the situation has not been illuminated properly.  Picasa
is as usable and functional for me on x86_64 openSUSE 11.2 with the
windows version (3.6) via wine as the provided linux versions, which also
were installed with a *special* version of wine.

Very little has changed support wise except the *special* version of wine
being provided.
