Thanks for the reply, Shaun. I tried it out, and it seems to only return (in the array), what you give it. In other words, I passed my custom map type a single feature change, black water, and when I called getStyle(), it gave me back an array with a single element which was the water style I passed it. I think we're going to reach out to Google to see if the default feature colors are in a list we can get, in the mean time I'll try to Google around to see if anyone else has done that legwork already.
