To start I'm an employee of neither company but I do work for a web
development/consultant company in Chicago and utilize both technologies.
Unfortunately I couldn't disagree with your view more. Unless your a
premiere customer I don't think Google owes you or any of the rest of us
squat. If you're paying them 10,000 a year for support and to be able to
pretty much do what you want with the API they've provided then I could see
feeling as though you are owed some privilege to know something about the
low level decisions the companies employees make or will be making (in this
case call them directly they will work with you, you should have a
representative already assigned to your premiere account from how I
understand it).

To answer your questions rather than just rant

1. Yes this is the Google forum where other members of the community
sometimes including Google employees but many times not, come to discuss
issues they've encountered and offer each other assistance (free of charge
mind you, google kindly hosts this conversation, but owes us nothing, albeit
in their best interest sometimes to do things to make the development
community happy, they certainly don't owe us anything). The maps API for
Flash (and this forum) is meant to be all encompassing for any technology
that will ultimately create a Flash player file, generally speaking they've
created a library for AS3 code, the map object can be used just like any
other UIComponent in the case of the flash maps API swc vs Flex it's just a
matter of whether or not the outermost map object needed to be a UIComponent
(required by flex framework for sizing/layout/invalidation etc.) or if it
should use a more stripped down object for pure Flash which doesn't have the
AS3 bytecode for the UIComponent and related classes loaded by default.

2. This is a decent question for a google employee to chime in on.
Generally speaking my answer to this would be don't hold your breath, if
there is a feature in the javascript API that you absolutely can't live
without today then you should probably consider using that API. Although
there are somewhat regular updates to the Flash API it's very likely IMO
that Google will keep the Javascript API (and Java/Anrdoid API) one step
ahead of the Flash maps since they primarily internally use those maps and
make money off of those ventures more directly than through the Flash maps
API which is more than likely used by far more people for free than by
paying customers.

3. Using a StyledMap in a Hybrid configuration sounds like something I
would do in my car :). I'm not sure exactly what this question means, if
it's a known issue or has been discussed elsewhere in more detail please
link to it, no one here reads every single post... I almost do but I doubt
if any single person does. If it is a reproducible issue that occurs and
there's enough people interested in seeing it fixed look for or create a bug
for it in the DB and write up in your forum post a link to the issue for
others to up-vote/star it if they also have this issue to increase the
likelihood of it being addressed.

Sorry no good straight answers but hope you get moving on the right path.

Shaun
