Okedoke, I'm glad what I was just working on won't be a waste of time then 
:).  I posted an AIR application to my server that uses the library you were 
pointing to and the google maps API directly instead of doing a conversion 
in between, the example data I got was from a texas public data site the 
other parts included are the library you pointed to (I pulled the source 
down made a new library project and just started poking at it so I'm not 
sure that my usage is 100% correct but debugging with your real files should 
get you what you need).

I only did the polygon one, you'd want to use the appropriate google maps 
overlay/marker or whatever to achieve the right affect based on the 
ShpType... I'm honestly not sure about the eSRI format so I don't know about 
the multiplicity of shapes that may be stored in a single file or other 
details so I can't help there.
