One thing to note - a brief read through the ESRI Terms suggests there's no equivalent of Google's 3 year post-deprecation support. It read like they could kill it with no notice whatsoever. Not suggesting that they would, but clearly given the present situation, I'm sure evaluation of support commitments by vendors will be high on everyone's radar.
