ESRI terminated a previous flash based mapping product with very
little advanced notice, actually made me look like a fool as I'd
picked them as my recommended solution, and then presented it to a
client a few months later, only to find that the product had been
discontinued in the interim.

Now with Google deprecating their product, it makes one wonder about
the viability of producing enterprise grade software that integrates
external data sources via vendor provided APIs.  It's a serious risk.
