What counts is what arrives at the end user's web browser, i.e. what
you see if you do a 'view source' on page.

Then the widget is duff or misinformed (what does it think the URL
will be?) or you are using it wrong, I can't advise on that.

Somehow, there already is a call for the G-maps API in your webpage
and it has a valid key, else the map would never appear.   Maybe you
are trying to add it again and ought instead to modify an existing
instance.

Don't think so, you just make em as you need em.  Don't worry about
it, you have already got over the key hurdle and it is your
sitebuilder that is giving grief.  It'd be quite easy to manually code
what you want but I expect you have reasons for using the widget.
