The airplane cannot fly over every point on the ground. The angle may vary. The absolute altitude may vary. The relative distance to the ground may vary. It is strictly an approximation. It is particularly evident if you look at several providers' aerial imagery side by side (Virtual Earth / AOL / GOOGLE /YAHOO).
