I'm the author of the DCist Metro system overlay mapplet, and have
begun receiving messages from users complaining that it's stopped
working. Alarmingly, they seem to be right!

I'm at a bit of a loss, however. The files remain accessible on the
server (links below). The info window displays correctly when
selected. There are no Javascript errors. Centering/zooming on the
map works fine when initiated by clicking on a link in the info
window. It's just that nothing is getting drawn.

I apologize for posting to the group before I've been able to
investigate the matter more thoroughly. However, since this mapplet
is in use by a relatively large number of people; has been operating
properly for a year and a half; and since there's nothing on the GMaps
API blog that seemed to indicate a problem or relevant API change, I
thought I'd post here and ask if anyone knows what could be happening
before making time in the next week to really dig in. The Mapplet
scratchpad unhelpfully says "information is temporarily unavailable"
when I paste into it -- could remote XML fetching be down?

Thanks in advance for any ideas or insight that you can share.
