Totally off the actual subject but I discovered if I pass the 'grid'
parameter to my 'initGrid(grid)' function, the copyright and Google
icons disappear from the map.  If I remove the parameter and reference
the variable 'grid' declared external to the function, the copyright
and Google icons reappear.

Obviously there's some serious crosstalk issue between the Google API
and the grid API.
